After a short 5 month break, Empower is back in action! To kick start our program, Empower is hiring 5 new Mentor positions. Please see attached job posting.
Empower uses arts-based approaches to train diverse Toronto youth (ages 16-29) to become HIV peer educators in their own communities. Empower works with a variety of youth communities including street-involved youth, LGTBQ youth, youth of colour, youth who use substances, Aboriginal youth, and youth labeled with intellectual disabilities. By working with youth from different communities, we seek to create a space whereby youth can learn and share from each others’ realities, while simultaneously strengthening youth participation within the HIV movement. Empower: An HIV Capacity Building Project for Youth by Youth is a collaborative partnership between Central Toronto Community Health Centres (CTCHC) and Gendering Adolescent AIDS Prevention (GAAP).
For more information on the positions, please see the attached job posting or contact Sarah Switzer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 416-703-8482 ext. 143. Interested individuals are invited to apply by submitting a resume or cover letter. Hand written letters will also be accepted.
